Expressions is now accepting clients for center based ABA and Occupational Therapy
Expressions is now enrolling for center-based ABA Therapy that focuses on a combination of Discrete Trial Training (DTT) techniques and Natural Environment Training (NET) as well as OT services centered around social skills and play. This combined approach helps children accomplish their individualized goals across specific developmental domains such as functional communication, behavior reduction, and self-help skills. Center-Based therapy allows for children to practice school-readiness, peer play, following group instructions and social skills throughout their structured schedule. Center based services are conveniently located close to I-49 and 58 highway in Belton, MO.
Expressions works with each individual's family to schedule ABA and OT services that fit into the families schedule, natural routine, home and daily environment. Teaching in the client’s home facilitates learning of skills in the natural environment in which the child will use their newly learned skills the most. ABA therapy is provided for those on the autism spectrum in as many of the learner's natural environments as possible to encourage generalization and retention of skills. OT services for children with a variety of developmental, sensory, and physical needs are provided in the child's natural environment to facilitate real-life learning and adapt natural settings to meet the child's needs. Family and peers are encouraged to participate in ABA therapy and OT sessions to help expand generalization of newly learned skills. Expressions staff work to equip parents and caregivers with the right tools to reduce problem behaviors and to teach new skills.
Expressions works hard to generalize skills throughout all settings, one being in school. We know children spend the majority of their day at school and we want that individual to be as successful as possible. One way we do this is by collaborating with the school and working out a plan that is functional for both the individual and the teachers/administrators at local area schools.
Expressions knows that problem behaviors and barriers to participation not only occur at home and school, they also occur out in Kansas City area communities. We teach and train parents and families how to handle behaviors and barriers in the community environments they frequent. This is another way we can support parents and children in achieving their functional/behavioral goals in real life situations.
We provide parent/caregiver training monthly for ABA services and weekly for OT services to ensure progress is being made even when your child isn't in therapy. Based on the principles of ABA and OT, we will provide your family and caregivers with 1:1 help with any problem areas that may arise.
We also provide ABA education and training to schools and the community, by workshops or 1:1 training.
Expressions enjoys collaborating with schools, healthcare providers, families, friends, and any other persons the individual may come into contact with in the Kansas City area. The more involved the stakeholders are in an individual’s ABA therapy and OT the more successful the individual will be in all settings.
Expressions provide ABA consultation services for families and schools. We can provide behavioral help on a case by case basis. Whether you are a school needing some assistance for behavioral plans or an individual that doesn't have a diagnosis, we've got you covered. OT consultations are also available to children and their parents/caregivers who are seeking support for improving development and increasing participation in daily activities.
